Custom Consoles M Desk-Technical series chosen for Iranian natural-gas extraction station
January 6, 2010Custom Consoles, a leading producer high-quality furniture for the process-control, security and broadcast sectors, has completed a major order for Yokogawa Electric Corporation. One of the world's largest specialists in measurement and process control technology, Yokogawa has taken delivery of two large curved consoles plus an engineering control desk, an operator's desk, a manager's desk and a supervisor's desk. All are currently enroute for use at a natural-gas-extraction project in Iran. "The furniture for this project is based on our M Desk-Technical series which allows bespoke control room desking to be configured from a range of standard modules with user-specific worktops," comments Gary Fuller, Sales Manager at Custom Consoles. "The two largest desks are mirror-image L-shape designs measuring nearly 7.5 by 3 metres. Each is slightly curved on its longest side and incorporates four silver-finished metal legs. The two desks will be deployed to form a semi-enclosed U-shaped working area accommodating up to eight system control staff. Each desk incorporates two floor-to-worktop-height computer bays plus four slanted-top desktop equipment pods and seven Ergotron semi-flexible monitor support arms." A straight L-shaped design, the engineering control desk provides seating space for two operators on its long side (4.1 metres) and one operator on its short span (2.76 metres). It is supported by a three-drawer storage bay at each extremity plus three computer housings with space for two PCs each. A desktop-level storage pod for reference files is located at the corner of the structure. Five monitor support arms are located at the rear of the long span plus an additional support arm on the desk's short span. The operator's desk is a 3.2 metre wide design with two side-by-side work-positions separated by a central storage cabinet which will incorporate two PCs. A silver-finished metal leg provides stability at each end of the structure. Two PC-monitor support arms are mounted at the rear of the desk in front of each operator. The manager's desk is a 2.4 by 2 metre T-shaped design supported by a three-drawer storage bay on one side of the short span plus a housing on the other side for two computers. The longer span is supported at its far end by a metal pillar and provides worktop space for two-person or three-person discussions. Two PC support arms are attached at the rear of the desk, one above each support bay. The supervisor's desk, 2 metres wide and 90 cm deep, is similar in design to the manager's desk but without the discussion-desk extension. All six desks are finished in dark grey laminate with black worktops. Custom Consoles M Desk-Technical furniture is configured from standard modules. Heavy-duty three-layer cable management with access panels runs along the entire desk width. The M Desk-Technical range is available in a choice of veneers. Worktops can be finished to individual customer specification from a variety of choices. Each desk unit is supported by extruded aluminium legs with integral floor-to-desk cable ducting. Available options include storage pedestals, computer housings, desktop equipment bays and flat-panel monitor mounts.
