Custom Consoles has completed the design and construction of a large height-adjustable engineering control desk for Swedish independent broadcaster TV4. The desk is configured in U-shaped surround formation allowing a powerful array of control and monitoring equipment to be installed within easy reach of a single supervisor.
"We have long and very positive experience of Custom Consoles furniture," comments TV4's Technical Director, Jonas Collsiöö. "Most of our requirements have been met from their standard ranges of desks but this particular installation, for Studio K3, was very unusual and called for a bespoke design. The wing-shaped desk supports six monitor displays used to supervise machine control, Radamec studio camera robotics, as well as Mosart and ENPS playout systems. Custom Consoles has also incorporated equipment pods along the centre and right-hand desk sections to house audio monitoring, intercoms, waveform monitors and auxiliary equipment. Height adjustability gives operators the ability to set the desk to suit their individual preference."
"This is one of the more complex bespoke height-adjustable desk systems we have supplied to date," adds Gary Fuller, Sales Manager at Custom Consoles. "It is finished in dark red with a blue Linoleum worksurface. Installation is due to commence at TV4's Stockholm headquarters in early August."
TV4 Sweden commenced transmission via satellite in September 1990. Terrestrial broadcasts began on March 1992. All 10 TV4 channels are transmitted from the network's Stockholm headquarters: TV4, TV4 HD, TV4 Plus, TV400, TV4 Film, TV4 Guld, TV4 Komedi, TV4 Sport, TV4 Fakta, TV4 Science Fiction. TV4 also produces a news channel for 3G mobile and operates Sweden's largest network of local television stations.
