Custom Consoles has completed a second major contract for studio furniture on behalf of Radio-Television Slovenia, Ljubljana. This latest order is for a total of four rectangular Module R desks and seven System 2 split-level electrically-adjustable workstations plus four Media Wall flat-screen monitor mounts.

Two of the four Module R desks are in-line rectangular playout desks. Each has a 464 x 120 cm top surface accommodating two groups of three ventilated equipment bays and two centrally-located pods. Both desks incorporate a floor-to-desktop height storage cabinet and are fitted with five Ergotron monitor arms.

The other two Module R desks are production control desks. One is a 464 x 120 cm rectangular design accommodating three equipment bays at its left and two at its right. Its central section is equivalent in width to four equipment bays and houses a vision mixer. A 310 x 120 cm production desk has also been provided. This has four ventilated equipment bays positioned as two pairs spaced by a two-bay-wide central gap which can be used to house additional equipment.

All four Module R desks incorporate silver-anodised extruded-aluminium legs combining high structural stability with attractive styling.

The seven System 2 workstations will be used to house free-standing video editing equipment. Each workstation consists of an S2-01A desk and S2-2A shelf, both electrically adjustable in height from 660 to 1,200 mm. Desk and shelf were supplied complete with cable management and IEC power outlets. Each System 2 workstation incorporates large-diameter radial corners with high-density curved edging and a hard-wearing upper-surface finish.

"We are very satisfied both with the durability and the styling of Custom Consoles furniture," comments Nevenka Zorka, Project Engineer at RTV Slovenia. "Our staff find the desks comfortable to work with and particularly appreciate the height adjustability of System 2. Installation both of Module-R and System 2 has proved quite straightforward given that all the furniture had been chosen to match specific room dimensions. The Media Wall screen supports were also a logical choice. They are stable, incorporate a sensible amount of cable ducting space, and blend in well with the Module-R desk styling."

Custom Consoles' Media Wall is designed to accommodate large or small arrays of flat-panel monitors and ancillary equipment. Media Wall incorporates height-adjustable horizontal beams suspended between 2 metre high silver-anodised aluminium columns. Beams are available in 1,500, 2,000 and 2,500 mm widths and allow easy attachment of large and small panels using pivoting VESA and plasma-mount fittings. Horizontal cable trunking is provided at the rear of each beam and vertical trunking at the rear of each column, enabling easy and expandable housing of power and video wiring. Equipment pods with 19 inch racking behind removable vented panels can be accommodated at floor-level.

"Return business is always encouraging," comments Gary Fuller, Sales Manager at Custom Consoles. "RTV Slovenia worked closely with us on the first contract so we were able to ship this latest order as flatpacks for them to assemble and install themselves. The new Module R desks are finished in maple with hard-wearing blue Marmoleum work-surfaces to matching the earlier installation."

Custom Consoles' Module-R product range enables robust, efficient and attractive control-room desks to be produced quickly and cost-effectively from a selection of high-quality pods, base sections, 19 inch rack housings, worktops, end-panel modules and legs. The desk pods are available as single-bay sections with up 10 U chassis capacity. Cabinet construction is in high-quality veneered MDF. Other features include continuous brush-strip cable access to front worktops. Recent additions to the range include new 19 inch rear-desk equipment pods, new front-access panels with increased ventilation, and optional hardwood worktop buffers.
