Custom Consoles control desks chosen for Oman gas plant

Custom Consoles announces the delivery of two large control desks to Yokogawa Middle East for installation at a major gas plant in Oman. Both desks were custom-designed to Yokogawa's specification and incorporate solid oak buffering to protect front, side and rear edges. The desk tops are hard-wearing light grey Marmoleum work-surfaces. Access ducts for electrical and data cables are located at regular intervals towards the rear.
Largest of the two desks is a 10 metre curved console bay (shown above) with horizontally-sliding tambour doors, also light grey, providing easy access to storage bays at each side. Six silver-spray-painted steel supporting pillars provide vertical and lateral stability across the entire structure.
The second desk is a straight engineering control console in matching style and colour, 6 metres in width, with six steel supports and 12 cable access ducts. It is designed to accommodate up to five seating points and incorporates a vertical draft-exclusion panel.
"We were awarded the contract on the basis of Yokogawa's previous experience of our ability to produce control furniture combining high structural strength with attractive styling and finish," comments Custom Consoles' Sales Manager Gary Fuller. "Low combustability is of paramount importance in power-control environments and for this reason the two desks are constructed from fire-resistant plywood."
