Custom Consoles furniture chosen for University of Dundee
February 14, 2006
A Custom Consoles Media Desk and auxiliary furniture form the centrepiece of a new video suite in the Interaction Design Laboratory at the University of Dundee. A joint venture between the Department of Applied Computing and the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, the Interaction Design Laboratory is located in the prestigious new Queen Mother Centenary Research Centre.
The Media Desk houses HDV (High Definition Video) editing equipment, enabling students to obtain practical experience of 1080i and 720p digital cinematography as well as standard definition television programme production. The desk has dual worksurfaces finished in Marmoleum with hard-moulding edges. Overall desk dimensions are 1.8 m wide by 1.1 m front to back. Both worksurfaces can be individually adjusted in height from 660 to 900 mm using rotary handles.
The rear surface is designed to support LCD or traditional CRT picture monitors; two 3 U equipment pods are mounted below. A 13U high pedestal was also supplied. The Media Desk and pedestal are constructed of maple-veneered MDF with aluminium vertical supports.
Custom Consoles (www.customconsoles.co.uk) manufactures a broad range of studio and technical-support furniture including motorised, manually adjustable and fixed-height units plus fan-cooled sound-insulated equipment housings.
