November 16, 2005
Custom Consoles has completed the support structure and external cladding of a massive 12 x 5 metre monitor wall for the Highways Agency which is responsible for operating, maintaining and improving the strategic road network in England.
Built in co-operation with audio-visual display and control solutions specialist Electrosonic, the structure houses twelve 67 inch rear-projection screens which can be switched to monitor motorway traffic flow on the motorway with exceptionally high clarity. It is located at the agency's M25 control centre near Hatfield.
Paul Brooks, Sales Manager at Electrosonic, comments:
"Custom Consoles has long experience in providing monitor-support furniture and was the logical choice for this structure. The display incorporates four by three self-supporting monitor cubes forming a single seamless screen. It is designed to allow easy expansion to 24 screens at a future date. The structure includes mains and video cable ducting and is built of MDF finished in oak veneer."
