Jackshoot takes delivery of the first Custom Consoles EditOne desk

Friday, October 25th, 2013

25 October 2013: Jackshoot, one of Europe’s leading online broadcast service-providers, has taken delivery of the first Custom Consoles EditOne desk. Installed at Jackshoot’s UK headquarters, the EditOne is being used as a live control station for switching, editing and monitoring live programme content immediately prior to live internet-based transmission.

“The EditOne desk is brilliant,” comments Jackshoot’s director and co-founder Simon Haywood. “It is highly robust, the ergonomics are excellent and the styling blends in well with a modern broadcast operations environment. Our EditOne desk is configured for simultaneous use by two operators. It accommodates an SDI patching matrix, monitor displays, live broadcast encoders, an Apple post-production system running Final Cut Pro with live editing facilities, hard disk drives and main-plus-redundant power supplies. The equipment is installed in the rear-access bay below the main work surface and in the auxiliary pedestal.”

“The entire EditOne range of furniture is designed for flat-pack delivery which allows very fast despatch to site,” adds Custom Consoles sales manager Gary Fuller. “The desk can be assembled in less than an hour using the supplied Allen key and screwdriver. All other elements in the series will be equally easy to transport and assemble.”

Developed for use in video editing suites and broadcast graphics areas the Custom Consoles EditOne desk goes beyond the traditional rectangular configuration by using sculpted MDF support panels rather than metal legs. The curved theme is carried through to the desktop and a raised monitor shelf.

Front and rear corners of the EditOne desk and optional pedestal are curved, eliminating any possibility of collision with sharp protrusions and contributing to the ultra-modern styling. The worktop and monitor base also have hard-wearing and operator-friendly curved edges at front, sides and rear. Finish is in oak with contrasting black powder-coated MDF.

The EditOne desk incorporates three equipment pods with a collective nine units of rack space. These form the base of a monitor shelf. Full cable management is provided. Power distribution is optional. An auxiliary equipment pedestal with an additional eleven units of rack space and an integral worktop is also in production.

Custom Consoles reports a strong level of interest in its new EditOne low-cost flat-pack technical furniture at IBC2013.

“This was one of our most successful IBC shows in recent years thanks in part to an excellent stand location,” comments Custom Consoles Sales Manager Gary Fuller. “Interest in our new EditOne range of workstation and storage furniture was very high among existing clients and its aggressive price point attracted a lot of potential new business.”

“Available now, EditOne is designed for use in video editing suites and broadcast graphics areas. It offers excellent ergonomics to impress the operators, ultra-modern styling to impress their clients, and a price point that will impress the purchasing department. Systems integrators also appreciated the speed with which we can deliver. All furniture in the EditOne range can be shipped within days of order. The Custom Consoles EditOne desk goes beyond traditional rectangular styling by using sculpted MDF support panels rather than metal legs. The curved theme is carried through to the desktop and a raised monitor shelf, both of which are optimised for a centrally seated operator.

Three equipment pods with a collective nine units of rack space are incorporated in the desk. These form the base of a monitor shelf. Full cable management is provided.
