Monday, September 21st, 2009

Custom Consoles has received a third major contract for studio furniture from Radio-Television Slovenia, Ljubljana. The order forms part of the Slovenian broadcaster’s expansion into 1080i HD programme production and transmission. It includes five Module R desks ranging in width from 3 metres to 5.5 metres plus a SystemTwo post-production desk.

“Custom Consoles’ furniture has proved consistently durable and comfortable to work as well as being attractively styled,” comments RTV Slovenia Project Engineer Nevenka Zorko. “As with the previous Module R and SystemTwo installations, the ordering procedure and actual assembly are quite straightforward. We assembled the second set of furniture ourselves and will be doing the same with this latest order. The height adjustability feature of SystemTwo is particularly appreciated as operators can set their working height to their personal preference at the start of a session or even change between seated and standing modes.”

“The Module R range gives customers the freedom to specify furniture from a co-ordinated selection of elements to match their chosen configuration and room dimensions,” explains Custom Consoles’ Sales Manager Gary Fuller. The latest Module R furniture ordered by Radio-Television Slovenia consists of a lighting and vision control desk plus three production desks for the main HD control gallery plus an addition production desk for an auxiliary studio.

Production desk 1, 5.15 metres in width, is configured for three operators and includes space for a recessed vision switching control panel in bay 2. A total of six desktop equipment storage pods are incorporated, consisting of two 3 U pods in bay 1, two 4 U pods in bay 2 and two pods of 5 U and 3 U capacity respectively in bay 3.

Production desk 2 is almost 5.7 metres in length and consists of a four-bay structure with two 3 U high desktop equipment pods in bay 2.

The lighting and vision control is a 3.6 metre wide design with two main bays and a subsidiary right-hand bay. Six 8 U high desktop equipment pods occupying the full width of bays 1 and 2, augmented by a 3 U high pod in the right-hand bay.

Production desk 3 consists of two main bays plus a subsidiary left-hand bay. This incorporates five auxiliary equipment storage units arranged, from left to right, as two 3 U high pods, one 6 U high pod and two additional 3 U pods. Total width is 3.6 metres.

Production desk 4 is a four-bay 5.5 metre wide unit with two groups of two 3 U high desktop equipment pods located in bays 2 and 4.

All five desks are finished in maple with hard-wearing beige Marmoleum worksurfaces.

Custom Consoles’ Module-R product range enables robust, efficient and attractive control-room desks to be produced quickly and cost-effectively from a selection of high-quality pods, base sections, 19 inch rack housings, worktops, end-panel modules and legs. The desk pods are available as single-bay sections with up 10 U chassis capacity. Cabinet construction is in high-quality veneered MDF. Other features include continuous brush-strip cable access to front worktops. Recent additions to the range include new 19 inch rear-desk equipment pods, new front-access panels with increased ventilation, and optional hardwood worktop buffers.

SystemTwo is a multi-element furniture system designed to accommodate free-standing or pod-mounted equipment such as graphics workstations and editing terminals. Features include a front-facing cable-access slot eliminating the need to loop cables from the rear. The SystemTwo range includes the S2-01B desk and S2-2B, both electrically adjustable in height from 660 to 1,200 mm.

Radio-Television Slovenia produces three national TV channels including a new parliamentary channel plus three national radio channels and a variety of regional programmes for Italian, Hungarian, Romany communities as well as for Slovenians living abroad.
