Custom Consoles furniture selected for oil and gas control production vessel

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

Custom Consoles has been chosen to provide technical furniture for an oil and gas production vessel. A total of three desks plus a bespoke conference table, library shelving, 17 chairs and 14 Ergotron adjustable LCD monitor arms have been commissioned.

“This installation called for ergonomically efficient furniture combining robust-build, fire-resistant components and attractive modern styling,” comments Custom Consoles sales manager Gary Fuller. “The client chose Custom Consoles furniture for two earlier projects and have been very impressed by the construction quality, including their attention to details such as reinforced front edging which contribute to a long operational life.”

The project includes a complete suite of control room furniture centred on a curved process control desk with seating for up to five operators. The process control desk is a bespoke design, 7 metres in width, constructed from two electrically height-adjustable dual-unit desks and a fixed-height single unit. Four of the five operator positions are fitted with low-profile slanted-front equipment storage bays and eight Ergotron adjustable flat-screen video monitor arms.

The fixed-height unit is located at the desk’s right extremity and incorporates a 10 U high 19 inch equipment pod. Positioned behind the curved desk are a 5 metre wide desk from our established M Desk-Technical range plus a matching L-shaped two-station supervisors’ desk. At the opposite end from the supervisor’s desk is a conference suite with a 10-seat conference table and storage fittings. All desks are finished in fire-resistant oak laminate with a curve-profiled walnut hardwood edge.”

M Desk-Technical furniture is configured from a number of standard modules leaving only the worktops and any client-specific units to be constructed to meet individual requirements. Heavy-duty three-layer cable management with access panels runs along the entire desk width. M Desk-Technical can be finished in maple veneer or textured grey. The desks are supported by extruded aluminium legs with integral floor-to-desk cable management. Worktops can be finished in a choice of materials. Available options include storage pedestals, computer housings, desktop equipment bays and flat-panel monitor mounts.
