Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Custom Consoles will exhibit examples of its broadcast studio furniture, post-production workstations and monitor support equipment on stand 8.B15 at IBC 2009. The stand itself occupies twice the floor-space of the company’s previous-year exhibit, reflecting a highly successful IBC 2008.

Custom Consoles furniture is based on four product ranges:

Module-R control room furniture
The Custom Consoles Module-R provides much of the unrestricted design capability associated with bespoke furniture. It allows robust, efficient and attractive control room furniture to be produced quickly and cost-effectively from a selection of high-quality pods, base sections, 19 inch rack housings, worktops with hardware buffers, end-panel modules and legs. The desk pods are available as single-bay sections with up 10 U chassis capacity. Cabinet construction is in high-quality veneered MDF. Other features include continuous brush-strip cable access to front worktops. Recent additions to the Module-R range include new 19 inch rear-desk equipment pods, new front-access panels with increased ventilation.

Media Wall flat-screen monitor mount
Media Wall is designed to accommodate large or small arrays of LED, LCD and plasma-panel monitors and ancillary equipment. It incorporates height-adjustable horizontal beams suspended between 2 metre high silver-anodised aluminium columns. Beams are available in 1,500, 2,000 and 2,500 mm widths and allow easy attachment of large and small panels using pivoting VESA and plasma-mount fittings. Horizontal cable trunking is provided at the rear of each beam and vertical trunking within the columns, enabling easy and expandable housing of power and video wiring. Equipment pods with 19 inch racking behind removable vented panels can be accommodated at floor-level.

System 2 multi-element furniture with motorised height adjustment
System 2 is a multi-element furniture system designed to accommodate free-standing or pod-mounted equipment such as graphics workstations and editing terminals. The latest version has many new features including a front-facing cable-access slot eliminating the need to loop cables from the rear. The System 2 range includes the S2-01B desk and S2-02B monitor shelf, both electrically adjustable in height from 660 to 1,200 mm.

Media Desk dual-surface height-adjustable desk system
Media Desk forms the basis of an ergonomically-efficient and accessibly-priced working environment for computer-based media workstations. Users can adjust working posture at their own desk or when operating across several locations. Height adjustment can be made quickly and easily using a retracting handle operated via a geared drive.

Custom Consoles Module-R chosen for Midlands shopping centre security control room

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

Commercial Security Systems (UK) Limited, one of Britain’s most successful security-CCTV and remote-monitoring installation suppliers, has chosen Custom Consoles Module-R furniture as the basis of a large control desk for the Westfield Merry Hill shopping centre in Dudley. Designed to a U-shaped floor plan, the desk comprises a broad central bridge with storage units on each wing.

“Custom Consoles’ Module-R range was ideal for our requirements,” comments Andrew Kelly, Director of Wolverhampton-based Commercial Security Systems. “It includes a very robust and attractively styled series of desk modules which can be integrated into what is effectively a bespoke design without the attendant high cost and long delivery time. We also commissioned a matching multi-screen video display racking system, MediaWall. The MediaWall is located in front of the control desk and supports six 32 inch LCD video monitor screens in a three-wide by two-high array. An additional 12 LCD monitor screens are mounted on Ergotron arms attached directly to the control desk. These can be fingertip-adjusted to suite the individual viewing preferences and height of the control room staff.”

Integral to the desk are six ventilated storage bays which house computers and peripheral equipment. Two are located at the left extremity of the desk, one in the centre and three at the right. The extended side wings provide a large horizontal surface area which can be used as temporary storage space for documentation.

Custom Consoles’ Module-R product range is a mix-and-matchable control room furniture system which enables aesthetically pleasing and long-life control-room desks to be configured to meet specific shapes and dimensions from a selection of high-quality pods, base sections, 19 inch rack housings, worktops, end-panel modules and legs. Co-ordinated desk pods are available as single-bay sections with up 10 U chassis capacity. Module-R cabinet construction is in high-quality veneered MDF. Other features include continuous brush-strip cable access to front worktops. Additions to the range announced recently include new 19 inch rear-desk equipment pods, new front-access panels with increased ventilation, and optional hardwood worktop edging.

Designed to accommodate large or small arrays of flat-panel monitors and ancillary equipment, Media Wall incorporates height-adjustable horizontal beams suspended between 2 metre high silver-anodised aluminium columns. Beams are available in 1,500, 2,000 and 2,500 mm widths and allow easy attachment of large and small panels using pivoting VESA and plasma-mount fittings. Horizontal cable trunking is provided at the rear of each beam and vertical trunking at the rear of each column, enabling easy and expandable housing of power and video wiring. Equipment pods with 19 inch racking behind removable vented panels can be accommodated at floor-level.

Based in Wolverhampton, Commercial Security Systems offers an extensive range of CCTV systems to suit all budgets, from simple single-camera installations to large-scale multi-camera systems which can be remotely monitored by a third party. Commercial Security Systems’ clients include major retail centres and service companies throughout Britain.
